Web Design Inspiration for the iPhone

Ok, truthfully, the iPhone scares me. Not necessarily the phone itself, or even the $300 price tag. It scares me because it represents a whole new aspect of my job that I’ve yet to even dip my toe in. The world wide webbing for trasportable communication devises, I hear the kids are calling the mobile web.

I’m constantly needing to take my web design/programming to the next level, and that’s part of what I love about my work, but designing/programming for the phone is a total unknown to me right now. It’s an inevitable future, and I’ll probably end up tackling it any day now, but it doesn’t seem like just another notch in the belt (if you want to do it right). The web is a very fickle medium, with various screen sizes, font limitations, and what not. But mobile websites really throw a whole new layer of changes on top. A drastically different screen and different user requirements and interactions. It’s a whole new medium that requires a lot of re-assessing where how you design/program.

Ok, I’m scared and excited.

If you’re not one of those hipster iPhone people the site above gives you an example of what we’re talking about. I know the iPhone can view any normal website too, but mobile specific versions are what’s happening these days.
